Creating ScrapAntics’ First Impact Report: A Celebration of Community and Sustainability

This year marks a significant milestone for ScrapAntics—our first-ever Impact Report. After eight years of community-driven action, creativity, and sustainability, we are thrilled to reflect on our journey and share the collective achievements of our team, volunteers, and supporters.

From diverting waste to empowering artists and fostering inclusive play, the report captures how ScrapAntics is making a difference in Dundee and beyond.

Why We Created the Report

This being our first report, we saw it as an opportunity to measure our progress, highlight stories from the community, and lay the foundation for the future. Led by strong ethical guidelines, our mission has always been to create spaces where everyone feels welcome and empowered—especially those facing barriers due to trauma, financial struggles, or isolation.

The report is not just a summary; it’s a celebration of eight years of ScrapAntics as a platform for change.

Key Highlights from the Impact Report

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of ScrapAntics’ work. Through our ScrapStore, we diverted an impressive 18,128 kilograms of household and business materials from landfills this year alone, bringing our total to over 120 tonnes since opening.

Community Impact

Over the past year, we engaged 15,929 individuals through various programs, festivals, and collaborations. Our community space at Wellgate Shopping Centre has welcomed 5,160 visitors, hosting everything from free weekly ScrapThursday sessions to health check-ups, haircut services, and arts activities.

Our dedication to inclusivity has supported over 200 families—many of them refugees or asylum seekers—through tailored initiatives like the Family Club, Ladies Collective, and ESOL Men’s Group.

Arts & Education

We empowered 13 emerging artists with 65 workshop contracts, collectively reaching 1,800 participants. Our play-based education programs delivered 19 class sessions and 132 Loose Parts Play kits to schools, ensuring children in 33 Dundee schools experienced the transformative power of creative learning.

Our Art Studios, which host 21 artists, continue to foster creative reuse and sustainable practices.

Volunteer Contributions

Volunteers are the backbone of ScrapAntics. This year, our 14 dedicated volunteers contributed over 1,820 hours, helping with everything from managing the ScrapStore to organising community events.

Looking Forward

The ScrapAntics Impact Report is a testament to what a small team with a big vision can accomplish. As we step into 2025, we are committed to deepening our impact, fostering sustainability, and championing inclusion.

Creating this report has been a process of reflection and learning. It not only showcases what we’ve achieved but also identifies areas where we can grow, ensuring our mission remains strong as we move forward.

We invite you to explore the full report and join us in building a more creative, connected, and sustainable future.

Thank you to everyone who has supported ScrapAntics over the years—your contributions make this journey possible.
