We are seeking two new members for the ScrapAntics team -

(1) Playful Communities Coordinator

&

(2) ScrapStore Assistant.

 

Both roles have the same closing date/interview dates etc, and you can find the details of each job role below.

Job (1) Playful Communities Coordinator

 

The Playful Communities project is a collaboration between Play Scotland and ScrapAntics, funded by Inspiring Scotland. The role is managed by ScrapAntics.

 

Basis of Employment

  • 42 hours per month, flexible hours 
  • Temporary freelance contract for 8 months (with potential of extension)

  • August 2024 - March 2025

  • 7 hours per week @ £13 x 32 weeks (admin, small family play sessions)

  • 14 hours per month @ £13 x 8 (first weekend of every month)

  • Monthly total salary: £546

 

 

Job Purpose:

  • To support families and children to interact, connect and engage

  • To coordinate and deliver the Playful Communities project over 8 months

  • To lead and supervise the play team to achieve outcomes and provide high quality impact

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinator all work associated with the delivery of the programme including staff team organisation for the 8 x monthly weekend sessions

  • Delivery of small family play sessions, minimum three per month

  • Maintain and grow relationships with local partners, schools & networks - representing ScrapAntics in a professional manner and promoting the play weekends

  • Support the protection of children, young people and families by dynamically risk assessing situations and ensuring your team follow risk assessments at all times

  • Provide regular evaluation of programme delivery to help ensure the continuous improvement of our services

  • Coordinating and overseeing the loading, unpacking and cleaning of Loose Parts items before and after each session

  • Recording data regarding session participation and submitting this information along with the feedback and insights from your team at the end of each session

  • To record and submit photographs from the sessions, where appropriate, being aware of GDPR regulations

  • To work within all guidelines and regulations as set out in ScrapAntics’ policies

  • To work collaboratively with the wider ScrapAntics team and attend meetings as required

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

- Understanding and familiarity of play work and youth work principles and working with communities marginalised by poverty - with the ability to create non judgemental environments 

- Experience of using play to engage directly with children, young people and families in schools and community settings and able to facilitate fun experiences

- Able to build positive relationships with colleagues, children, young people, families and professionals

- Experience of risk assessments, multitasking and working calmly under pressure

- Adaptable and flexible to suit the needs of the organisation

- Must be a van driver (own car also preferred but not essential)

- Understanding of sustainability and how we can promote small changes

Job (2) ScrapStore Assistant

 

Basis of Employment

Approx 26 hours per month (with the possibility of more hours) 

  • £12 per hour

  • Every Saturday bar one a month (12pm - 4pm)

  • Every second Friday (10am - 4pm)

  • Big team meeting once a month (2hrs)

  • ScrapStore staff meeting when necessary (Every 2-3 months)

  • Zero hours contract, ongoing employment

  • Monthly total salary, minimum: £312

 

 

Job Purpose:

  • To organise and process the many donations we receive

  • To keep the shop displays tidy and appealing and the space clean and organised

  • To talk about ScrapAntics and explain what we do to customers and our community, including promoting upcoming events

  • Opportunities for additional hours doing work in other areas of ScrapAntics

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leading our volunteers and training up new additions to the team

  • Key holder - opening and locking up the shop

  • Money handling, making sales and advising customers

  • Light data gathering and admin

  • Potential to use social media and do online sales

  • Communicating with staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the shop

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in the service or retail industry is desired 

  • Ideally you would be over 30 with a drivers licence, willing to drive the van (This is due to our van insurance only insuring people over 30, there may be alternatives to this though, especially if you have your own car for small pick ups etc)

  • Enthusiasm and positivity for what we do and an interest in sustainability

  • Good organisational skills

  • Good communication
